How to check your case status online in Pakistan

Check case status online for the Supreme Court, Lahore, Islamabad, Sindh, Peshawar and Balochistan High Courts and Punjab district courts, with official links.

Key takeaways

  • Every superior court in Pakistan publishes case information on its official website — always start there, not on third-party sites.
  • Have the case number, year and case type ready; party-name search exists on some portals but is less reliable.
  • Punjab’s district courts publish case details and date-wise cause lists through the district judiciary’s Case Management System.
  • Online status can lag behind what happened in court — confirm the next date from the order sheet or the court’s cause list.
  • Keep your own diary of every next date; online systems are a check, not a replacement.

You can check most case information online in Pakistan by going to the official website of the court where the case is pending and searching by case number and year. Superior courts — the Supreme Court and the High Courts — publish cause lists and case information on their own websites, and Punjab’s district courts publish case details and date-wise cause lists through a provincial Case Management System. This guide lists the official starting point for each court and a reliable routine for confirming the next date.

This guide is general information, not legal advice. Court websites change their menus from time to time; if a link has moved, start from the court’s home page.

Before opening any portal, collect three things from the file or the last order sheet:

  1. Case number and year — for example "W.P. No. 1234 of 2026" or "Crl. Misc. No. 567-B/2026".
  2. Case category — writ petition, civil revision, criminal miscellaneous (bail), regular first appeal, family appeal and so on. Most portals ask you to choose the category first.
  3. Bench or station — High Courts sit at a principal seat and benches (the Lahore High Court, for example, has benches at Rawalpindi, Multan and Bahawalpur). Choose the right one.

If you only know the parties, try a party-name search where the portal offers it, but expect spelling variations ("Muhammad", "Mohammad", "M.") to hide results.

Where do I check case status for each court?

CourtOfficial websiteWhat you can usually find
Supreme Court of Pakistansupremecourt.gov.pkCause lists by registry, case status, judgments
Lahore High Courtlhc.gov.pkCause lists, benches, cases and hearing status, roster, reported judgments
Islamabad High Courtihc.gov.pk and mis.ihc.gov.pkCause lists, case information
Sindh High Courtshc.gov.pk and cases.shc.gov.pkCause lists, case status for Karachi, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Larkana
Peshawar High Courtpeshawarhighcourt.gov.pkCause lists, case information
Balochistan High Courtbhc.gov.pkCause lists, case information
District courts, Punjabdsj.punjab.gov.pkCase details and date-wise cause lists for district courts

Some of these websites are slow at peak hours or may not open from outside Pakistan. If a site does not load, try again later from a Pakistani network.

How do I check a Lahore High Court case?

  1. Open lhc.gov.pk (opens in a new tab).
  2. Look for the case status / cases section or the cause list section in the menu.
  3. Choose the bench (Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan or Bahawalpur).
  4. Choose the case type, then enter the number and year.
  5. Read the result: the latest hearing date, the bench and, where available, the next date or "date in office".

For more detail on reading the daily list itself, see our guide to the Lahore High Court cause list.

How do I check a district court case in Punjab?

Punjab’s district judiciary uses a provincial Case Management System, which publishes case details and date-wise cause lists for district courts. Start at dsj.punjab.gov.pk (opens in a new tab), choose your district and court, and search by case number or view the cause list for a date.

District courts are where most of a litigator’s daily peshis happen, so this is the portal worth bookmarking. If your district’s court is not shown, ask the court’s reader (the staff member who calls cases) or the copy branch.

How do I check Islamabad and Sindh High Court cases?

Our guide to Islamabad and Sindh High Court cause lists explains the daily lists in more detail.

What does each status mean?

Status you may seeWhat it usually meansWhat to do
Fixed / listed for (date)The case is on the cause list for that dateNote the date and bench; prepare the file
AdjournedThe case was not heard and was adjournedFind the next date in the order or cause list
Date in office / to be fixedNo date fixed yetCheck the cause list regularly; consider an application for early hearing if urgent
ReservedJudgment or order reserved after argumentsWatch for the announcement date
Disposed / decidedThe case has been decidedApply for a certified copy; note limitation for any appeal

The wording differs between courts. When in doubt, the order sheet is the authoritative record.

Why is online status sometimes wrong or late?

Court websites are updated by staff after each hearing. On busy days the update can come hours or days later, and some district courts are still moving records online. Treat online status as a check, not your primary record. The safest routine is:

  1. Note the next date in court, from the judge or reader, the moment it is given.
  2. Confirm it from the order sheet or a certified copy when needed.
  3. Check the official cause list a day before the hearing.

How do I avoid missing a date even if the website is down?

Online systems help, but missed dates usually happen because a next date was never written down. A simple daily routine closes that gap:

  • During the day: record every outcome and next date immediately after each hearing.
  • Each evening: review tomorrow’s list and the documents needed.
  • Each morning: check the official cause list for tomorrow’s and today’s matters.
  • Weekly: look for cases with no next date ("date in office") and follow up.

Munshi is built around this routine: you say "Adjourned, next date 12 November" after the hearing and the next hearing is created with reminders, and tomorrow’s list arrives on WhatsApp at 6 PM. See how to stop missing hearing dates.

Can I rely on third-party case-status services?

Private websites and apps sometimes collect court information in one place. They can be convenient, but they are not official, can be out of date and may not cover every court. Always confirm on the official website or with the court office before relying on a date.

Summary

Start with the court’s own website, search by case number and year, read the status carefully, and confirm the next date against the order sheet and the cause list. Keep your own diary of every date — online portals are an excellent check, but the responsibility to appear stays with you.

Frequently asked questions

Can I check case status online without the case number?

Some portals allow search by party name or advocate name, but results can be incomplete because of spelling variations. The case number, year and category are the most reliable way to search.

Why does the online status not show today’s next date?

Court systems are updated by court staff after the hearing, so there can be a delay. The order sheet signed in court is the authoritative record of what was ordered.

Is there one website for all courts in Pakistan?

No. Each High Court and the Supreme Court has its own website, and district courts are managed province by province. This guide lists the official starting points.

Are third-party case-status apps reliable?

Some private services collect information from court websites, but they are not official. Use them only as a convenience and confirm on the court’s own website.

Can Munshi check my case status automatically?

Not automatically. Munshi is your own diary of hearings and reminders, so confirm dates on the court’s official website.
